About Me

You can learn more about me reading my blog posts than if I put together some trite description of myself, but here are a few things:

1. I have a grown-up daughter, which is quite surprising since I have steadfastly refused to grow up.  I am tremendously proud of the superb woman she has grown into.
2. I have two pets, Sasha the Dog and Monet the Three-Legged Kitty. Sasha is a miniature Schnauzer and Monet is a cute, gray and white cat.
3. I don't do resolutions, but in November 2014, I set a goal to get back to nature more and escape the suburban mess that is Northern Virginia. I am doing day hikes in this area based upon a book I got from the Daughter for Christmas (AMC's Best Day Hikes Near Washington, DC). I've knocked a couple off already. At the request of a friend, I am doing short posts about each hike.
4. I have about 10 books on my night stand to read at any given time. Half are typically histories and half are survival/wilderness books. My Kindle, however, is filled with sci-fi brain candy books for the metro, so don't assume my reading tastes are all that snooty!
